From Debbie McDermott, director
I have such big dreams – for myself, for the Center, for our entire community. Ultimately the place of peace is within us. But it is my deep belief that our environment and surroundings play a huge role in keeping us in balance. This is what I wanted to create at Serenity Lakes Wellness Center, a place to find balance in times when our lives are so hectic.
In complete amazement, I look back over the past year since the opening of the Wellness Center. Our lives are so perfectly on purpose and in divine order!
When I first envisioned a spiritual healing retreat, my idea was to provide a place for people wherever they were along their path. And, true to the dream, those who have come here seeking serenity have returned again and again.
I am so very grateful to all of you!!! Not only have you assisted in bringing my own dream to life, but I want to thank you for sharing your spiritual explorations. These quests to nurture body, mind and spirit require courage and love. Your explorations inspire and humble me.
Come visit! You may want to ask questions or explore, treat yourself, join a class or group, make an appointment with one of our practitioners. We offer many ideas and practices for leading a happier, healthier way of life.
Coming in October I will be opening Serenity Lakes GiftShop ~ Tools for the Journey & Gifts for the Soul. There will be offerings online as well as a store inside Serenity Lakes Wellness Center.
Shortly thereafter will come the opening of a café serving organic tea and raw foods. I envision an outdoor setting with an arbor, small tables and chairs and a view of the lake. Can’t you taste the wonderful, energizing food and hear the soothing music?
One year after opening the doors of Serenity Wellness Center, I can’t possibly name everyone who offered me assistance in so many different ways, but there are a few people I would like to mention in a special salute to their unfaltering love and support. They have helped make my dreams come true.
First and foremost I would like to mention my ex-husband John McDermott. Our journey together is unique. We made a commitment to remain not only business partners, but to hold sacred our friendship and family, as we value and honor each other and our new journeys. John rolled up his sleeves and dug in, his expertise with renovations, maintenance and painting and just about anything else I needed has made Serenity into the warm and beautiful environment that it is today. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
I would like to mention my good friend, Wendy Wohlust. She has been by my side since the beginning of this journey. She is always ready to help out, whatever I need. Through the tough times and the good times, she is there. I am deeply grateful to Wendy for everything that she does.
I would like to thank Maggie Amey, my office assistant, the glue that holds everything together here. Maggie just dropped by one day because she had heard a Wellness Center might be opening in Gwinnett. She is a beautiful, loving soul and her love for Serenity shows in everything she does.
A blessing to me in so many ways is Carleen Moscarelli, who once lived in the building that houses Serenity, and is delighted with the transformation. She always felt the property was special, and dreamed of it being a healing center. Carleen has spent many hours organizing our events and contributing her ideas and insights to make Serenity a better place. Thank you, Carleen, for being such a source of support and inspiration.
Words cannot express the gratitude and love I feel for everyone who has entered into this journey with me. The words of encouragement, the enthusiasm and excitement of those who first come to the center, and the love and support that I feel from everyone keep me uplifted and focus on fulfilling my dream.
I invite all of you to stop by, and take a piece of Serenity home with you.
I wish each of you peace in your soul, love in your heart and the strength and courage to live your dream!
Namaste,
Debbie
